Dedication and Prestige

PlaneSense Inc. is pleased to announce that Donald Atchison, Director of Maintenance Training at Atlas Aircraft Center, a sister company of PlaneSense, Inc. that performs most of the maintenance on the program fleet, was awarded with the prestigious Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award. Named in honor of the Wright Brothers’ mechanic, this award recognizes individuals with 50-plus years of experience in the aviation maintenance industry.

Don has a comprehensive history in the aviation industry. He joined the Air Force in 1961 as a fighter mechanic, and soon thereafter began studies for his Airframe and Powerplant license. All the while, he balanced his training with nighttime shifts, working at local FBOs. During his 50-year career, Don has worked on numerous single and multi-engine aircraft types. His varied positions in corporate aviation allowed him to fly all over the world in support of aircraft, which he recalls as the most rewarding experience over the years. His favorite memories include those where he was able to meet new people and gain exposure to diverse cultures. Don has worked with us since 2004, and has served as the Director of Maintenance Training for five years. We are proud that Don is a member of our team. He is a man truly dedicated to his work and aviation.
