When the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles meet up in Minnesota for Super Bowl 52, thousands upon thousands of people will descend on the city to watch the game. This creates a huge demand for flights in and out of Minneapolis, where the game will be played in the brand new and impressive U.S. Bank Stadium. It also creates some travel headaches, and that in turn creates a huge opportunity for private flight.
A surprising number of those people will arrive via private flights. Per the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, as many as 1,500 private flights will land at area airports ahead of the Super Bowl, PlaneSense very much among them. While Delta has announced it will add 21 new commercial flights in the week leading up to the game for fans, those with the means to avoid major airports and long security lines are doing so. Most of those flights–many of which will be carrying senior NFL staff and celebrities–will come through a small handful of airports both within Minneapolis and just outside the city.
The benefits to avoiding commercial flight are obvious and varied. Being able to bypass long lines for security, avoiding long drives to and from your lodging, and potential delays are all hugely attractive, given how difficult it will be to get in and out of Minneapolis. And, of course, there’s the benefit of not being packed elbow-to-elbow with fans of your least favorite team, should it come to that. The Super Bowl kicks off on Sunday, February 4th at 6:30 p.m. EST. If you’re not able to travel to the game, it will be shown live on NBC.
