Facility Assistant Manager

PlaneSense, Inc. is seeking a Facility Assistant Manager to oversee our state-of-the-art 84,000 square-foot headquarters and Flight Operations Center / Pilot Training Facility located in Portsmouth, NH. The headquarters includes a 40,000 square-foot aircraft hangar. Both locations are within 1.5 miles of each other.

The Facility Assistant Manager performs leadership and management duties associated with the delivery of services and operations related to security, customer service and cleanliness of all facilities while overseeing facility operations. This position reports to the Director of Facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Provide day to day leadership and direction to deliver consistent, safe, reliable operations and service
  • Lead and direct all facility staff regarding; cleaning, and safety of the building and hangar activities
  • Correspond with other departments regarding various issues
  • Correspond with the Landlord of any rented facilities
  • Lead and conduct shift briefings with or through supervisors and employees
  • Ensure shift scheduling matches demand
  • May act as Company liaison in matters related to the airport community
  • Comply with and ensure accountability for Company policies and procedures related to safety, and security procedures
  • Meet, greet, and assist pilots and clients when needed
  • Ensure a culture that promotes safety through daily observations, shift briefings, routine audits, safety meetings, training and documented safety procedures. Review procedures for use in event of fires, building system failures or other emergencies
  • Ensure a culture that promotes loyalty by creating an environment of increased employee engagement
  • Maintain relationships with vendors
  • Oversight of facility maintenance operations, regarding landscaping, snow removal, electrical concerns, and plumbing concerns
  • Conduct accident investigations to determine root causes, including all reporting involved with the incident
  • Assist in the administration Computer Based Training programs for the department, as well as any on the job training needed
  • Perform leadership functions such as assisting in conducting annual reviews, making hiring decisions, and managing performance of direct reports
  • May perform tasks such as time and attendance administration and processing new employees
  • Other duties as requested or assigned
  • Process property & auto insurance claims as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree or five (5) years related experience in Facility operations or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • This position does require constant availability and working, in all weather conditions, and schedule flexibility, is a must as it is a 24/7 operation
